The keynote speakers at the closing session of the American Farm Bureau Federation annual convention were Archie and Peyton Manning. When you are at a large convention it is nice that they have a video system set up so even when you are in the back of the hall you can see the people on stage. I do not spend much time following  actors, performers or other famous people. I do follow sports and it is nice to find out famous professional athletes you have heard of are good people.

It is always disappointing when you find out someone famous is a real "jerk" and has little time for ordinary people. It sure seemed like Archie and Peyton Manning were nice people. Archie was asked what was his proudest moment being the father of Peyton. Archie said it was Peyton being named NFL Man of the Year for the work he did raising money for a Children's Hospital. Remember, Peyton was named the most valuable player in winning a Super Bowl!

It is great to see when someone famous uses their reputation to help those less fortunate, especially sick children. A number of years ago Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs was at the National FFA Convention in Louisville. The media center was close to the main stage. After Rowe spoke he met a number of FFA members in wheelchairs behind the stage. Rowe talked with those FFA members for about 45 minutes. I am pretty sure it was not in his contract to spend some extra time talking with disabled FFA members. It sure looked like Mike Rowe was a decent person in real life too.
