A high tension cable barrier has finally been finished being installed between Exit 22 (near Geneva) and just north of Albert Lea.

The reason for the installation of this cable barrier is to reduce the number of fatal crashes. In fact, cable barriers reduce fatal crashes by a whopping 95%, according to MnDOT!

The reason cable barriers are so good at reducing fatal crashes so much is because the posts will break when a car hits it and the cables will flex which allows it to absorb the kinetic energy from the crash. This prevents drivers from crossing over the median and crashing into oncoming traffic. Cable barriers are also cheaper to repair than cement barriers.

Now they just need to finish up the crazy project that's happening here in Faribault! I would like it to be back to 2 lanes, please.
