Field Technology Days Wednesday and Thursday Rain or Shine

The Central Farm Service will be hosting their Field Technology Days this week Wednesday and Thursday. That will be the topic on Tuesday's AM Minnesota program. Kevin Kruize with the CFS Central Advantage will be one of my guests. The Technology Field Days will be held at Farmamerica, 2 miles west of Waseca. It will be two big days of field demonstrations, displays, grower panels, exhibits, a free lunch plus a drawing for two $2,000 gift certificates for Snell Motorsports. Even with all the rain the event will be held! Farmamerica has a paved lot and the visitors center that can be used.

My other guest for the AM Minnesota program Tuesday will be Derek Smith with Environmental Tillage Systems in Faribault. ETS designed and manufactures the Soil Warrior. The Soil Warrior is a zone tillage machine. It can till a 10-inch zone in the fall and also inject your fall applied fertilizer. In the spring you will plant in those 10-inch zones. CFS has partnered with ETS and the Soil Warrior for this fall.

The fertilizer recommendations from farmers grid samples can be uploaded to the Soil Warrior. Then the Soil Warrior can zone till a farmers field and also variability apply the fertilizer 6-7 inches deep in that zone. This equipment and technology is expensive and many farmers cannot justify buying a Soil Warrior. However, with the partnership between CFS and ETS, farmers can have their fields zone tilled and fertilized with a Soil Warrior. By the way a Soil Warrior will be at the Technology Field Days!
