Cover crops will be the topic on Tuesday's AM Minnesota program. Ed McNamara, who is a farmer in Goodhue County and also on the Goodhue County Soil-Water Conservation Distict board will be my guest. There is a lot of interest in cover crops and what they can do in terms of improving soil health, helping control herbicide-resistant weeds and preventing soil erosion. Ed has some experience with cover crops but also wanted to promote the Southeast Minnesota Cover Crop Consortium Seminar coming up in Zumbrota.

The program will be on March 16 from 12:30-3:30PM at the Zumbrota VFW. Topics include soil health, termination of a cover crop, using cover crops in row crops and livestock management along with an update on the Minnesota Ag Water Quality Certification Program and the Ag plastic Recycling Program. For more information, listen to Tuesday's AM Minnesota at 9:30AM or contact Ed McNamara at edmcnamara@sleepyeyetel.net.
