Allina Health Locally Awards Health Connection Grants

Allina Health released a press release to announce local community nonprofits in Steele and Rice counties to be awarded Neighborhood Health Connection grants, which ranged from $1,500 to $5,100.

Allina Health selected a variety of programs to receive the grants that support the promotion of healthy eating and physical activity for adults and families. The Neighborhood Health Connection grants application was open to community nonprofits and local government organizations.

Locally, the grants were awarded to:

• Centro Campesino in Owatonna for healthy cooking classes for families
• Bethel Ridge Church in Faribault to provide an activity circle group
• Ruth's House in Faribault for meditation, healthy cooking and exercise classes
• Faribault Diversity Coalition to build relationships through activities between new Somali and Cambodian refugees and Faribault downtown businesses
• Greenvale Park Community School in Northfield to provide neighborhood activities and meals
• Friends of Way Park in Northfield for outdoor yoga sessions
• Northfield Senior Center Memory Cafe support group to provide healthy activities for participants

According to the press release, Community Engagement lead for the south region, Natalie Ginter, mentioned that Allina Health received 13 applications from local organizations.
