The Minnesota Association of Wheat Growers will be sponsoring a number of Wheat Workshops later on this month. One of those will be on February 19, 2018 in New Prague from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the State Bank of New Prague Community Ctr. The Southern Wheat Tour is a program of the University of Minnesota Extension Service. With problematic pests and increasing work loads there is more interest in growing small grains like wheat to add diversity to crop rotations.

Some of the topics include: Wheat Production Agronomics, Variety Selection, Soil Fertility, along with Disease Management and identification. One of the presenters will be Jared Goplen Extension Educator specializing in small grain production, forage management and weed science. Also presenting will be Jochum Wiersma Extension Small Grains Specialist focused on improving wheat, barley, and oats productivity and profitability. There is no charge and you can register at the door. If you have questions contact Jared Goplen 320-589-1711 extension 2128.
