Saturday evening I was asked to emcee the 2018 Rice County Dairy Banquet at the American Legion in Lonsdale. The staff at the Lonsdale American Legion served a great dinner, tender moist roast beef and mashed potatoes! Emilie Trcka from Lonsdale who is a nursing student at South Dakota State University served as the 2017 Rice County Dairy Priness and Jacy Saemrow was the 2017 Dairy Maid. Each young lady spoke about the fun things they did last year being part of the Rice County Dairy Royalty.

The 2018 Rice County Dairy Royalty include from the Left: Rice County Dairy Maid Jacy Saemrow from Waterville, the daughter of Gordon and Hindy Saemrow. Jacy is a 7th grader at Tri-City United. An interesting fact about her family's farm is it has been in the family for 125 years and is a 5th generation farm. She is involved in Rice County 4-H where she participates in Dairy Judging and Dairy Quiz Bowl.

On the far right is Rice County Dairy Maid Emma Kuball the daughter of Nathan and Shannon Kuball of Waterville. Emma is an 8th grader at Waterville-Elysian Morristown. She is involved in 4-H where she participates in dairy Judging and Dairy Quiz Bowl. An interesting fact about her farm is Emma is the 6th generation on her farm.

In the front on the left is Rice County Junior Dairy Ambassador Keegan Kuball the son of Nathan and Shannon Kuball of Waterville. Keegan is a 5th grader at Waterville-Elysian-Morristown. Keegan is involved in football and wrestling. He also participates in 4-H where he is part of the Dairy Judging and Dairy Quiz Bowl. He enjoys Awana at church and snowmobiling.

On the right in front is Rice County Junior Dairy Ambassador Jobb Saemrow the son of Gordon and Cindy Saemrow of Waterville. Jobb is a 5th grader at Waterville-Elysian-Morristown school. Jobb is involved in Rice County 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl, Dairy Judging, football, wrestling, and band. On their farm, Jobb's family milk 700 Holstein cows where he helps by giving bedding to the cattle, drives tractor, skidloader and helps his Day wherever needed.

In the back is Rice County dairy Ambassador Judd Saemrow the son of Gordon and Hindy Saemorw of Waterville. He is a senior at Tri-City United. He plans to attend Ridgewater College or Northeast Iowa Community College majoring in Dairy and Agriculture. Judd is involved in FFA, 4-H and also plays baseball. An interesting fact about their farm is that over half the Saemrow's in the world work at Saemrow Dairy!

It was an honor to be asked to emcee the 2018 Rice County Dairy Banquet again this year. You get to interact with great kids like this group, plus, I received a great meal too.
