Be ready to start seeing orange cones, road construction season has officially arrived in Minnesota. The Minnesota Department on Transportation has announced 290 new road construction projects slated for this summer, which combined are valued at about $1 billion.

There are several projects that will be taking place in the KDHL and Power 96 listening area. Highway 14 will be worked on from about a half-mile east of Interstate 35 to one mile west of Highway 56. Additionally, Highway 14 will be expanded from Highway 218 to Steele County Road 180 from two lanes to four lanes. Repairs will be made to the concrete on Old Highway 14 to the west and east of I-35.

Two miles of road will be reconstructed on I-35 near Owatonna in both the northbound and southbound lanes, and ramps will be improved. I-35 will see some work in Rice County as well, as traffic cameras are connected to the statewide system.

North of Carleton College in Northfield, repairs will be made to the Stone Arch Bridge. Highway 52 and Highway 63 in Rochester will be getting a lot of work done.  At Highway 56 in Kenyon, pedestrian ramps will be replaced. Two bridges will be replaces in Mazeppa on Highway 60.
