At KRFO, our sister station in Owatonna, morning show host Loren Hart has been turning his love of area history into something he can share with listeners on the KRFO webpage by tracking down videos filmed in Owatonna from the past that have been shared to the internet. Inspired by this, I thought it would be fun to see what was out there for Faribault.

I did a bit of looking around on YouTube and came across this footage from May 1987 in Faribault. Filmed by a young child, the video starts at the family's home and passes Lincoln Elementary school before heading towards the downtown area. The vehicle turns onto a busy Fourth Street before traveling down Central Avenue. The footage shows a restaurant, Duling Optical, Jim and Joe's, Jupiture, the Security Bank clock, Sears and Burkhartzmeyer Shoes before ending at the video store.

At no point is the young child shown on footage, but we briefly see the mother, who is driving the car, and despite being told she "looks great" prefers not to be on camera.
